For the Foundations of the Earth are the Lord’s

“Do not keep talking so proudly or let your mouth speak such arrogance, for the Lord is a God who knows, and by him deeds are weighed. “The bows of the warriors are broken, but those who stumbled are armed with strength. Those who were full hire themselves out for food, but those who were hungry are hungry no more. She who was barren has borne seven children, but she who has had many sons pines away. “The Lord brings death and makes alive; he brings down to the grave and raises up. The Lord sends poverty and wealth; he humbles and he exalts. He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor. “For the foundations of the earth are the Lord’s; on them he has set the world. 1 Samuel 2:3-8
There are some wise and foolish things people do. Talking proudly is one of the most foolish things ever done.
We didn’t create ourselves. God created us. To survive on earth, we need to avoid talking proudly and arrogantly.
God resist the proud. Hannah prayed and said:
Do not keep talking so proudly or let your mouth speak such arrogance.
If we would like to know the things God does to the proud and the things that God do for the humble we can read the following words.
The bows of the warriors are broken, but those who stumbled are armed with strength. Those who were full hire themselves out for food, but those who were hungry are hungry no more. She who was barren has borne seven children, but she who has had many sons pines away. There is nothing permanent worth of pride on earth. Everything is temporary and destined to perish.
If God resists you because of your pride, nobody will come to rescue you. Your wealth doesn't protect you when God resists you. No one’s kingship delivered men from God’s resistance.
The Lord brings death and makes alive; he brings down to the grave and raises up. The Lord sends poverty and wealth; he humbles and he exalts He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor.
Thinking and talking in humility is a better protection than having a wealth or authority. The earth has the owner. God owns the earth. The foundations of the earth are the Lord’s.
