5 things Christian shouldn’t do during political tensions

For Christians, the word of God is the only council as what to and what not to do during political tension. If we walk in biblical manners, we will fulfil our calling on earth. People look up to us as role models. And this is high time that we testify for Jesus Christ behaving ourselves in a decent way.
• Don’t reject wisdom
We have a calling to be witnesses for Christ. The character we show must be used for testimony for Christ and His kingdom. We have to behave in a way that will not spoil our testimony. We have to do it wisely and in gentleness.
Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. 6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. Colossians 4:5-6
• Guarding self from hatred
The only party benefited from hatred is the devil. Guard yourself from hatred. “In your anger do not sin” Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. Ephesians 4: 26-27
• Don’t cease to pray for the country
Sometimes there are easier things to do than prayer. But let’s intercede before God to intervene in the situation. And resist the devil not to take advantage in this situation to steal, kill and destroy.
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:1-4
• Avoid Division
Accept that other Christians can have a different political view from yours. Have a large heart to accommodate them. And focus on the things that unify you, not divide for the the kingdom work.
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:2-3
• Give priority to Christianity
Even if we have to fully take part in political activities as citizens, we have to know that we don’t do any of them at the cost of our Christian calling. We don’t give priority for temporary thing over the eternal things of the kingdom.
