Only the Contented Can Serve God

Only the Contented Can Serve God

Our want is limitless. You wish to have something and as soon as you get it, it loses its honor. By the time you get it, you have already started wishing for something different. And as soon as you get the higher one, it loses its glory. You wish to have something more and as soon you get it, it becomes less in your sight.

This is the vicious cycle of life. It must be stopped as soon as possible. You can’t serve God if you fall into this cycle.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not against better and more. I am against the attitude toward the "better and more". We have an overestimation for "better and more". And when better and more arrive they disappoint us as it can’t deliver our expectation. "Better and more" are limited. There is something "better and more" can’t provide. We are expecting too much from a youth.

The other question is that "What you are doing with what you already have?” Are you just following "better and more" just for the sake of getting "better and more"? Or do you have a purpose of reaching out to others and serving them with whatever you have?

But If you always look for "better and more" just for the sake of getting "better and more" you will do nothing when you get it and waste your life. You don’t enjoy "the better and more when you get it. You despise it the sooner you get it, as the motive to look for "better and more" was distorted in the first place.

But if you are grateful for what you have, you can reach out to others and can serve them with whatever you have.

Then the apostles said to the Lord, “Give us more faith.” The Lord said, “If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Pull yourself up by the roots, and plant yourself in the sea!’ and it would obey you. Luke 17:5-6

Most of our problems don’t come for lack of better and more things. Most of our problems come from not using what we already have. We wait for better and more while we have everything, need to do something about it.

If we understand that it isn’t always a matter of "better and more" our prayer life would have changed.
