Love is patient, love is kind. It
does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others,
it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always
hopes, always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
To live right doesn’t come
naturally. To live up to the standard isn’t easy. We want to live right but
fail to actually live in life designed standards. And love does exactly that.
Love empowers us to live right.
Love is good and powerful. Love
makes us to be kind even to the unkind in compassion towards others. It makes
us contented in our success and be happy for the success of others. Love keeps
us humble. It enables us to do the right thing. Love enables us to honour
others as they deserve it. It keeps us from dishonouring others. Love enables
us to give priority to others. It frees us from thinking about us only. Love
understands better and not quick to be angry. Love has the wisdom of being
angry at the right time for the right reason in the right measure for the right
reason.
Love is quick to forgive and
forgive abundantly. It is compassionate and merciful. Love is decent not to get
into competition and repaying evil for evil.
We wouldn't believe as we should
if not for love. Love enables us to trust something that isn't trusted if not
for love. Love has the habit of trust. It trusts others as it trusts God who is
the creator and sustainer of life. Love is fair and is not delighted in evil.
Love seeks the truth. Love hates lies. It rejoices with the truth. Love
understands its responsibility for protecting others. Love enables us to see
the potential beyond the seen.
Love sustains in its initial
decision.
It enables us to hope in a
hopeless situation and against all odds. Love enables us to accept which we
don’t accept otherwise. Love empowers us to understand different people from
us.
And hope does not put us to
shame, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy
Spirit, who has been given to us. Romans 5:5
